Opoponax
Opoponax is a resin that comes from the Commiphora erythraea tree, also known as sweet myrrh. The smell of opoponax is rich, warm and sweet, with notes of balsamic, vanilla and honey. It has been used in perfumery for centuries, often as a base note to add depth and warmth to scents. In modern perfumery, opoponax is a popular ingredient in many fragrances, especially in the oriental and balsamic families. It is often combined with other warm and sweet notes such as benzoin, vanilla and amber to create a rich and complex fragrance. Opoponax is also used as a fixative to help extend the longevity of the scent on the skin.
