The so-called fragrance families are very large and anyone searching the internet for that fabulous scent might wonder “what makes them different?” Floral and fruity aromas are pretty clear, but what about fresh or oriental aromas? How they differ from each other. In this article, we introduce the different fragrance families and present the most popular choices for each group.

Sweet perfume

This group can be inspired by desserts, fruits or sweet-smelling flowers. Have you ever wanted to breathe in the warm synergy of caramel, marshmallows and honey, and perfumes like Sugar offer just that experience. If pure sweetness isn’t your thing – you can choose a soft sweet perfume with woody warmth or floral elegance. The following types of perfume are quite popular accords: vanilla, chocolate, honey, sugar, caramel and lush flowers. Depending on the seasons and your needs, the range of sweet fragrances is extremely wide.

Fresh perfume

The fresh fragrance is full of elements from other families: florals, citrus and the usual fruity notes, a whiff of the sea and many other parts of a fresh spring/summer day. It’s a holiday day on a lightly trodden forest path or a stroll along the seashore. This perfume is chosen by women who want lightness, freshness and vitality.

Fruity perfumes

A perfume that radiates sportiness and activity. From the fresh sensation of a breath of wind to the lush freshness of fruity notes. Perfect for daytime use. The main accords are found in the fruity aromas – a mix of pineapple, peach, apple and citrus fruits that instantly activate the body and mind. If you want to feel energised, invigorated, determined and positive throughout the day, choose fruity light fragrances.

Floral perfume

It is the most extensive group of fragrances where flowers are the dominant theme, either alone or in a bouquet with other notes, such as fresh fruit or woods. Most perfumes in this group are fresh and light. The most common fragrances are rose, jasmine, pansy, lilac, lily of the valley, narcissus, tuberose, orange blossom, iris and ylang. It is a versatile fragrance group, so it is suitable for classy women who want to dress up for a party or at work.

Citrus perfume

Citrus scents have an invigorating and fresh quality that is especially desirable in the spring and summer months, when nature begins to wake up and the sun is bewitchingly warm. Common top notes include mandarin, grapefruit, lemon and citrus (e.g. lemongrass), bergamot. These fragrances are refreshing and pleasantly tickle the nose, giving optimism and elegance.

Wood perfumes

Woodsy fragrances are characterised by the exquisite nature of the woody notes, which come from everything in the forest, from resin, moss, bark, pine cones to roots. Plants such as patchouli or goldenrod have a very earthy, woody character and are often found in this type of perfume. The main notes in wood perfumes are characterised by aromatic and citrus ingredients. The heart notes show hints of dryness and woody notes. The main notes are a synergy of resin and wood. The woody ingredients add richness, warmth, elegance and depth. Scents dominated by woody notes are usually sandalwood, pine, patchouli, cedar and oud.

Oriental perfumes

This category combines enchanting scents with warmth and mystery, enhanced by exotic accents. Women’s oriental perfumes often have a heavy floral undertone, while men’s versions have citrus and woody notes. This category has a wide range of unisex options to suit both sexes. The soft elements found in these fragrances are vanilla, cinnamon, clove, musk, jasmine, ambergris, ylang-ylang flowers, with touches of resin and incense. This is a sensual and sexy category of fragrances.

To conclude...
